Sergei Tiviakov seems to be selling his coaching services somewhat on the cheap side, don't you think?

It is really quite fascinating how little national loyalties seem to matter. After a month coaching the Bangladeshis Tivi will play for the Netherlands in the Olympiad. This is not unusual in chess nor, now I think of it, is it unheard of in other sports. In hockey, for example, Canada is often up against teams coached by Canadians but for a good deal more than $5K. Perhaps the point is that professional athletes can be bought but the going price in chess is at the bottom of the list.

Thats not cheap. Cheap is $10 an hour on the internet. No seriously, as a second tier grandmaster its whatever arrangements you can make and Im assuming expenses (air, accomodations, food) are thrown in. Also this is not Europe - its Asia.
