  • Chess Talk forum of Australia

The format of the forum looks pretty cool. Well organized with the headers.

Can we have something like this on chess talk ?

Re: Chess Talk forum of Australia

There are two competing Australian chess forums (fora?):

    http://www.chesschat.org/
    http://www.ozchess.com.au/

The latter also has a "Shoutbox" which is an real-time chat system -it's not always family-oriented material, but it can be amusing to read.

They are both quite active - the latter being slightly less so. The off-topic sections can be very controversial (as well as X-rated) - e.g. Holocaust and Hitler discussions.

That would be nice but it's up to the sponsor, yadda yadda. By the way, some of the features are impressive - easy presentation of games, etc.
Dogs will bark, but the caravan of chess moves on.

Re: Chess Talk forum of Australia

I read sometime ago that this website will undergo a major change. Please take this suggestion when they design the website. Afterall this is the most popular website in Canada and if we could have an improvised one, I am sure it will attract more people to join in. More people means more players participating in the future.

I noticed that at any one time the people on Australia chess chat website easily could be more than 500, Canada resemble Australia in many ways and have the same population or not more should do better than that.

        Cheers

        Gary

GM David Smerdon, one of only 3 Australian GMs, turns 30 today, and maintains an Australian chess blog I'm rather partial to (albeit you might want to skip today's entry, 'First Contact', which has nothing to do with chess). David has a book on the Marshall (2. ...Nf6) Scandinavian in the works that I'm definitely keenly interested in since David plays the wild Icelandic and Portuguese lines I'm so fond of (:

I must have missed this link to the Aus site before... nice looking website.
I thought it was amusing that the chessboard graphic they have for the banner shows the pieces set up incorrectly... lol

I see they are running the same version of vBulletin as ChessTalk - probably tweaked the colors and made some other
            customizations as well.
