    This Yusvendra Chalal news item is interesting if only for the perceived minimum cost (i.e. 500,000 rupees or $9,000 Cdn per annum) to receive "good training" towards requisite chess progression. I'm not sure that's a given in today's internet age for those with an apposite autodidactic bent (:

    A much bigger young Indian chess star, KS Raghunandan, the silver medalist at the 2013 WYCC U12, is evidently about to give up the game due to its prohibitive cost.

      FYI - in India, "lakh" is 100,000; "crore" is 10,000,000. There are about 55 rupees to the Canadian dollar.
