      Is this tournament still on?
      No pre-reg list?

How to start a rumour that a tournament is not on:

          1. Post on chesstalk wondering if the tournament is on.
          2. repeat 1 at leisure.

            3. Have the organizer post something irrelevant on Chesstalk instead of actual info.

I guess you are implying that the tournament is on, but rather than posting some interesting info
(like number of players registered, results of first Round etc) you have the time to post something else?

Sometimes it has its advantages to just be informed about the # of players pre-registered
without their names to keep the elements of surprise. As long as the TD posts
standings and tentative pairings before rounds, let those be the facts as the actual
registration because pre-registered players usually did not pay yet their entry fees.

It's 8:12 am Saturday and there have been 1082 reads of this Ontario Open thread - shouldn't that tell you something?

In the Open section two games were still played and looked drawish to me.

Norwegian teenage IM Aryan Tari only played 1 game, too tired from his plane flight over. I was looking forward to his game with Bindi Cheng He's only in town for a week, visiting relatives. Hopes he goes to Vlad's tournament next Saturday.

In the under 2100 congrats to Rebecca Giblon who tied for first with Yinshi Li (her only loss), ahead of Zehn Nasir. A year ago she was 1600s, now she going over 2000!

In the lowest section always fun seeing a little kid win a pile of bills for the first time.

                              Got to know that

                              Davis Southam 0 - 1 Roman Sapozhnikov

Thus final results of the Open section:

                              1. Bindi Cheng 4.5 (congrats!)
2-4 Yuanchen Zhang, Mike Ivanov, Michael Song, Roman Sapozhnikov 4
                              etc
