The Eastern Ontario Chess Association (EOCA) organizes the EOCA Grand Prix, which is a series of weekend tournaments, throughout the 2008-2009 chess season. In addition, we organize an EOCA Active Series, consisting of Active events, which are each held over the course of a Sunday afternoon.
The next EOCA event in the Ottawa area will be the RA Spring Open, on March 20th-22nd. It will consist of 5 rounds, with flexible bye and Amateur options.
We will have multiple sections, and a class prize for every 200 rating points from 2200 to 1400. Every player will be submitted for both CFC and FIDE rating.
Please accept regrets for issuing event details so close to the actual tournament, but unfortunately, there have been some medical issues to deal with! :(
Anyway, in the interest of simplifying registrations, please note that for anyone who registers by email ahead of time, all late fees have been eliminated. We just need you to pay by the time of the first pairings, which will be 30 minutes before the first round. We feel that it is fair to ask potential players to register by email ahead of time, or in person the evening before at the RA chess club. For players who decide to register only onsite on the Friday evening, please note that while there are no late fees, that all of the discounts (Amateur, RA member, FIDE titled) will no longer be available, and that onsite registrants will be subject to the full regular entry fee. We are looking forward to this simplified registration / payment/ entry fee mechanism, to save us key time onsite.
