  • Canadian Chess Challenge

The first round has just ended. Manitoba and New Brunswick tied. Results, stats etc appear live thanks to Chris Dawson of Newfoundland. Grace Ma sang O Canada in English and French at the start of the event. University is finished so we are sharing the campus of the University of Manitoba with the Canadian Geese. To follow the action go to Chess'n Math Association website and click on Canadian Chess Challenge in the top left corner. Www.chess-math.org

I'm really impressed with the software used for the results. It worked great and provided lots of information in real time.

Just an example: the team cross-table was updated live during the tournament.

          Hi Larry,
          Great work!
About how many players took part in the tournaments that lead up to the Canadian Chess Challenge? Regular, qualifiers?

Congratulations for such an organized event. CMA did a really great job in putting attention to details; from bag pipe and national anthem at the beginning of event, flags for all the provinces, rounds started on time, big scoring boards, welcome barbeque and entertainment, realtime web update, spectators' area, media coverage by local TV channel, and last but not least: the trophies are huge!
