Cooperative Chess Coalition (CCC) & the U 1800 GTCL Cup – the CCC Commandos.
The GTCL sponsors each year, a team tournament. You can have 4 members on a team. Clubs, organizations and groups of friends enter teams. It is on Monday, May 26 at Annex CC. It costs each team member $ 5. Time control is Game/15 30 sec. increment.
The CCC is a very small international organization of chess players, but has a CCC Network of over 3,000 chess players world-wide. Numbers of the Network are Canadian, and a number live in the GTA.
The last two years, the CCC formed a GTA Team from its Network and entered a team, called the CCC Commandos
In 2012 the CCC Commando team won the U 1800 GTCL Cup (the average of a team's ratings must be below 1800 to play in this lower section). Last year we came third.
We are entering a team again for 2014. We now have 3 members of the CCC Network who will play - all three were members of the 2012 Championship Team (see below).
Due to the ratings of the three players, our 4th team member must have a somewhat low rating, to keep our average rating under 1800.
Here are the statistics:
A. Total Rating Points Available for 4 Member Team for GTCL U 1800 Cup:
1799 x 4 = 6496.
B. Total Points Amassed by the three team members so far:
Erwin Casareno – 2119
Bob Armstrong – 1603
Ken Kurkowski – 1440
TOTAL 5162
C. Points Available for Fourth Team Member:
6496
-5162

Unfortunately, with the limited number of GTA members of the Network, and requiring a lower rated player among them, we have found that a number of our possible 4th boards are not available.
It is possible that some of the three team members so far may have a slight rise in rating by May 26. So, we are looking for a fourth with a rating between 1150–1300.
So we are now going beyond our CCC Network to find a fourth member. CCC approached a few SCC players we know, but so far they have not been available either. We are continuing to approach players, but we’ve decided to post also. It is likely going to be first come, first served.
We are asking whether you might be available that date, and willing to be the fourth member of our team? If so, please e-mail me, Bob Armstrong, ASAP, at cooperativechesscoalition@gmail.com .
