  • The World Open vs the Saturday Rapid

Despite losing a number of our top players to the World Open, the Saturday Rapid goes on!

With a prize pool approaching half a million $, and a First Prize of $20,000 the World Open has drawn a slew of grandmasters for the open section. The Canadians in the top section are >>>>>>>

    GM Anton Kovalyov

    IM Raja Panjwani

    IM Bindi Cheng

    IM Richard Wang

    FM Razvan Preotu

    Michael Song

    Michael Humphreys

    Brian Fiedler

And the class prizes are nothing to sneeze at with $12,000 for First in each 200 point division all the way down to E Class (under 1200 rating). Thus the top finisher in the under 1200 rating will win more money ($12,000) than second place in the Grandmaster section ($10,000) !

Meanwhile, back at the Rapid, let me know if you expect to play this Saturday, with prizes in the tens of dollars!
