  • Aurora CC - July rapid - results

22 players had not enough chess during the Aurora Open, thus they met on Monday to fight in the 6 round rapid (10 min) tournament. Results at http://www.chess-results.com/tnr1397...1&art=4&wi=821

Next Monday - a rematch tournament will start - 2 games per day (45 min) against the same player. Come and play.

Is the club membership growing? Just curious.

Need to ask a person who keeps tracks of this stuff. If compared tournament participation in the club 2013 spring had ~35; 2014 spring (championship) ~50. Rapids/blitz attract less people though several come just for them.

On Monday a man (Jerry) showed up who told that have not played for 25 years. Considered to join. Two weeks ago another man came, played, joined the club and came to the Open :) Thus there is a steady flow of new members.

The club is located on good corridors - 400, 404, Yonge / Wellington, thus many York region players come and play. Though several people come from Barrie.

It sounds like the club is growing. From 35 one year to 50 the next is close to a 50% increase which is a good growth rate. It's nice to read it's going well.

Rapids and Blitz used to have fewer players years ago at the club where I went. Most players seemed to like the slow games.
