An interesting decision regarding 3 and 4. Looks to me as a good chance for LG to score the GM title, an for BS to smash everybody :)

Can we please rest Bator against the weakies? He will have too much fun. We need him to have less fun, like at the World Cup against Morozevich.

On the contrary. We should rest him against the stronger teams. He plays very well against the weakies but has a tough time vs the GMs.

The board order looks about right. Either of the top 2 boards are capable of playing board 1 which helps when you want to rest board 1.

Not to rain on your Panglossian parade, Hal, but the fact that our "strongest team ever" is the 45th seed (and that's with our 2nd highest rated player being 65 years of age!) takes me right back to my Dinara Saduakassova post earlier this morning. What the hell is wrong with how the CFC is promoting womens' chess in Canada? The 2014 CYCC in Montreal had to combine the U16 and U18 girls' sections for the simple reason there weren't enough participants in either section. That rather speaks volumes, does it not?

                        Re: Board order

Canada isn't the only country with problems attracting older girls. The German youth championships combined the "men's" and "women's" U20 into one group. Romania had only 6 in its female U20 group, and 10 in its female U18 group (22 in the "male" U18 group).

At least they had the U20 championship. Canadian U20 hasn't been scheduled even :/

A lion born in a zoo will struggle to survive in the wild.
But a lion born in the wild, once released from zoo, can still be a hunter. It's like riding a bicycle- you might fall off a few times after not doing it for 20 years, but you will regain it quickly.

At least they have a National Championship. Canada doesn't even have its own championship tournament.

The way I see it... it's up to the national federation (CFC) to organize such an event. No bids are necessary. Let the CFC organize the event.
