We have two more additions last night and we have 35 players now

Wajdy Shebetah and Tom Bark from Mississauga Chess Club

Open section has 11 players now - 8 adults and 3 juniors. If we have 16 players for this section, take note that total prize for this section will be at least $ 560. We love to have more juniors having a go against the more established players in this section. We encourage you to pre-register soon.

Surprisingly, U-1600 has only 4 paid players so far. In the recent Mississauga Open, this section has the biggest number of players. Where are these players. We have a combination of cash prizes and trophies for the first 4 sections. Hope you will register soon.

We encourage the juniors in Mississauga chess club to play in the Scholastic section as this section is created mainly for you. It is CFC and CMA rated. This is a good place where you can get your chess started. Beautiful trophies are awarded. So far only 4 players registered.

As mentioned earlier, we created more sections due to feedback from players so that there are not too many players in one section. Ideally we would like 16 players in each section. It`s about 25% chances of winning cash prize or trophies.

Next weekend is the Aurora Fall tournament. Good luck to all the participants.

Today is a great day for chess in Canada as we have a World Champion - Qiyu Zhou from Ottawa. This should serve as a great inspiration for all our juniors that Canada can match the world. Let`s look forward to more world champions from Canada

Aurora Open just finished and it was a great tournament organized by Graeme and team. 80 players turnout. Fantastic tournament which the next one in next March.

This weekend Toronto Thanksgiving 3 days tournament at Macedonian Church at 76 Overlea Blvd.

The following week is Mississauga Standard which is less than 2 weeks from today. Hope you guys will support this tournament.

It's 38 players now. Do hope for your early pre-registration. Thanks in advance.

10 more days to go. We have 41 players now. ( Refer to the above pre registered list ). Half way mark towards our aim of 80 players

Two players from Brantford just registered. NM Adam Cormier and last weekend winner at Aurora U2000 section Rob Gasgharian and a new player who started playing in his first tournament at Campbellville active in Aug.

Open section is shaping up well with 12 players now. Prize money looking good for this section.

Absolutely mouth watering !!! and local favorite Bob G joins the crowd for the U-2000 section. This makes it more difficult to predict the winner. Anyone could be the winner.....

I guess if equal attention to adult as well to juniors in the tournaments by the Tournament organizers or TD will ensure more participation from the adult players. We may have a prize for the best adult in our next tournament or if the entry for this tournament is good, we may have one too instead of the class prize. In the recent Mississauga Open last month, there were prizes for the best adult in the respective sections which is great. This was advocated by our Bob Gillanders.

Looking for more registrations to make this tournament a success.

We are at 66 players at the moment ( Oct 16, 2014 ).

All the entry fees minus rating fees, rent, TD/Arbiter fees and some miscellaneous expenses will be given out as prize $$$ and trophies. We expect to have a payout of 70% of the entry fee as prize funds. Please note that the rating fees to CFC is already taking up $ 3.50 which is more than 10% of the entry fee.

I expect at the current turnout ( as per pre-registered list of 60 players ) , the prize funds will have exceed May Standard ( $ 1k ).

We just hope more beginners will come out to play in the scholastic section for them to have their first proper tournament ( regular rating ). We create this section especially for you.

On the other end which is Open section, we hope more juniors which are at least 19++ to come out and have a go at the Masters. No extra cost for playing up.

Two NMs just joined last night. Thus we have 1 IM, 1FM and 4 NMs in the Open section. 4 juniors sandwiched in between the 18 players. Very very interesting section. Wish there will be more juniors taking this opportunity to challenge the Masters.
U-2000 we have Thanksgiving U-2000 winner just registered. Very interesting with all the players having a good chance to win.
U-1600 - we have 20 players so far and we have close fight too in this section.
U-1200 has the most players with 23 players registered. Mostly juniors with a couple of adults. A close fight too
Scholastic section - we have 8 players right now.....This is the first time we have scholastic section and I guess it is a good start.

I noticed that there are a lot of newcomers ( at least 10-20 players ) which is a very good sign. I guess most of the objectives of this tournament are achieved. This is all thanks to your support.
