  • U.S. Open Bughouse Chess Championship

    This news item about two Kentucky 15-year-olds winning the U.S. Open Bughouse Chess Championship surprises me only because the two Kentucky players cited are both 'Class B' players, rated 1721 and 1755 USCF respectively. I'm thinking they perhaps won an U1800 Section, not the Open section. Otherwise, I now know where I'm sending my own 15-year-old and one of his many strong chess friends next year if the cash prizes are sufficient (:

    The standings posted by the USCF show only 6 teams participating.

      A national championship with only 6 teams has to be disappointing, Hugh. And the team that finished 2nd also seems to be comprised of 'Class B' players (Justin Taylor Kleidermacher has a 1612 USCF rating). It would appear that all strong players passed on this tournament ):
