That would depend on whether anyone wants to go or not. If you are interested you should let the CFC office know.

......sorry Jack, I thought the CFC (which knows all it's prominent juniors, I assume), had
extended you the opportunity above! Mebbe good for a nice air-ticket, meals, a right junket!

Here's the ChessBase feature on the WJCC 2014 which starts tomorrow.

And here's a 'zeenews' feature on the 18th seed, GM Sahaj Grover, who believes chess is about to become the 2nd most popular sport in India behind only cricket, which he believes more a religion than a sport (:

About a decade ago I was playing someone in Australia and he mentioned our Canadian Cricket team. I told him I didn't know we had one and he never mentioned it again.

In this area they build a lawn bowling setup for the seniors. I haven't been for a few years so don't know how much use it gets.

More than half!! the participants are from India (I counted 74!) out of the 139 player field. Some more GM norms for India I expect.

I saw lots of posts by Jack and I personally never meet Jack. Do you guys tell me Jack is an Under 20 junior chess player?

You're been taken in by Francis's badinage, William. I have two chess playing sons, aged 16 and 18 (turning 19 this month), so I'm a good deal older than 20 (:

It's a little surprising the two of us have never crossed paths since I've met your daughter at a number of chess tournaments as well as Corinna Wan's Oriole Chess Club.

IM Aryan Tari (2450), 15, from Norway, has a bit of a Canadian connection with Canadian family and made a brief appearance at our 2014 Ontario Open. Aryan got exceptionally lucky against GM Santosh Gujrathi Vidit (2635) in Pune today. After Aryan's 37. ...Qf5?, Vidit had a choice between two checks, 38. Qc8 (plus 2.19) and 38.Qd8? (minus 5.44). Fortunately for Aryan, Vidit opted for the losing move and Aryan's 4.5/6 moves him to within a 1/2 point of the lead (:

After taking down top seed Vladimir Fedoseev (2661) in R10 action today, China's Shanglei Lu (2533) is well primed to win the WJCC 2014. He's now sole 1st with 8/10, a 1/2 point ahead of China's younger phenom, Wei Yi (2641), who is in clear 2nd at 7.5/10, another 1/2 point ahead of a large group at 7/10 (including Fedoseev).

Lu & Yi drew in R9 so Lu is now clearly the new favourite in Pune. Some may remember the name from his win against Magnus Carlsen in the FIDE World Blitz Championship 2014 and he does have a much higher Bltiz rating (2704). I'm a bit of a fan since he plays some very aggressive chess, the Vienna being his primary weapon with White and he's fond of the Dutch Defence with Black. Here's his Vienna win against Carlsen earlier this year.
