We have stronger Canadian players like Anton Kovalyov and Eric Hansen...

We do, but maybe Mr Sinquefield is Razvan godfather!

Hi, "stronger" is a relative term. Canada's most consistent international player is GM Kevin Spraggett, yet he lost matches to both GM Alexander Lesiege and GM Pascal Charbonneau.

Two players previously cited by well known experts (GM Paul Keres, GM Lev Psakhis) as world class were IM Bryon Nickoloff and GM Mark Bluvshtein, respectively.

In light of Keres's pronouncement in 1975, certainly GM-elect Preotu is a logical candidate.

The main issue(s) isn't "strength", but other attributes, such as opportunity, personal ambition, etc., else, I truly believe we would have seen World Champion Bryon Nickoloff in 1987 (yes, I am biased).

            World class IM sounds paradoxical.

I don't know if it's a given there will be a Third edition. Someone is putting a lot of money into sponsoring the event.

Hopefully the exhibition being put on by Caruana won't be a turn off. It's really been exciting watching him "going for it". Nice games and I think we are watching a future world champion showing what he can do against his peers. I think he's playing really exciting chess and showing some interesting ideas and creativity in his games.

1 1//2 out of 2 points against the world champion isn't bad.
