I've posted a few Samuel Sevian news items previously under a different thread, but I think it's high time he warrants an eponymous thread. The "14 points" should read 16 points since his October FIDE card has him at 2484. Sam has his 3 GM norms but not the requisite 2500 FIDE rating.

And do check out his spectacular win against GM Ben Finegold a few minutes ago. Sam played a piece down from move 13 and now stands at 5.5/6 in St. Louis.

Sam is playing awesome chess - check out his tactics not just against GM Finegold but in rounds 1 thru 5 (no exceptions!) as well. Lovely chess! and congratulations GM Sam Sevian!

This 'Armenpress' article cites Armenia's IM Andranik Matkozian (2447) as Sam's coach. Andranik went -2 in St. Louis while his star pupil went +6 (drawing Canada's Raja Panjwani in the final round). Surely that has to be a tad embarrassing to finish 8 games behind your own student (:
