Did you forget Robert Gillanders in the U 2000 ?
            Or did he drop out?

              Hi John:

I asked Brian Fiedler - he replied:

" Bob G. unfortunately had to withdraw ".

                Hi Bob,
Would you have any newest update to the list of players? It is the last Saturday prior to the start of the tournament.

The next update will be the "final":
"The final listing of entrants will be done on Wednesday April 15. Bryan will subsequently complete and post the first round pairings."

I visited the site tonight (saw a few late entries come in) and it's a pretty historic building, the main playing hall is two stories tall and a short walk down the stairs to outdoors for the smokers. Fast to many elevators up for the washrooms/ bookstore/ lower boards. The first floor also has washrooms and a bar. Pass the vault in the basement there is an entrance to the PATH underground (Hockey Hall of Fame). The cheapest parking is the multi-level garage at the bottom of Church Street.

With only 5 rounds will the winner(s) have to get 5-0? Two draws and they may end up in a big tie for the lower prizes.

                      Re: PwC Toronto Open site

With 65 people in the Open section it is mathematically possible for three people to finish 5-0 having never played each other.

TD might consider applying the accelerated pairing right from the 1st round with players from same country being paired in the first three rounds.

I don't think a TD can really legitimately introduce a new term into the tournament, like accelerated pairings, at the last minute, if it was not advertised in advance as part of the tournament. If you want that, I think you have to let everyone know in advance.

Some players enter on the hopes of getting to play one of the top dogs in the first round. Accelerated pairings lock the bottom half of the registered players out of playing anyone in the top half. They would have a valid complaint if accelerated pairings came in at the last minute.

Brian and Chess 'n Math were swamped with last minute entries (including masters), so maybe as many as 220 players. Brian was up late last night trying to make the list, so hopefully it will get posted today. He has had to say NO to people who phoned him.
