  • Top Canadian woman?

While browsing through the world top 100 current ratings >>>>http://2700chess.com/?per-page=100
I noticed that Lazaro Bruzon, who won the tournament in Ecuador - the Latin American Chess Cup , played three Canadians in rounds 5, 6 & 7. The round 7 opponent, Vera Siguenas (FIDE 2425) is not a CFC rated player. If this is indeed a woman as the name indicates, would be by far the top rated Canadian woman.
Nor are the other two players CFC rated.
Are these three Canadians living in Ecuador? Anyone know?

I'm surprised you didn't Google the name first, Vlad. Deivy Vera Siguenas is a 22-year-old Peruvian male IM.

Right you are, Jack. But what's with the Canadian flag beside the name?

Chess-results.com shows his opponents in rounds 5, 6, and 7 to be all from Peru.

Are you sure there was a maple leaf on the flag, Vlad? The Peruvian flag has the same red/white/red markings as the Canadian flag - but no maple leaf! Their variant flag does bear a slight resemblance.

Right again Jack! The flags in the top 100 current ratings uses very small flags - hard to see the details.
