    Thanks for the flyer

Thanks for the flyer I received in the mail today in Toronto. In the absence of a CFC magazine, mailing is an excellent way to reach the majority of players. I hope you can get some inactive players back in action as well as upcoming juniors.

Thanks for the flyer as well. I'm still undecided, due to my work employment problems (layoffs on the way).

The flyer looks great! I do hope to be able to afford to play in a Canadian Open one of these years :) Probably not this year though, unless I manage to get hired full-time before then.

An interesting sorting criteria used here :D
Please include countries as well. It supposed to be an International event, isn't? even more - provinces&states too.

An old man once told me to look at who is playing in an event and decide what I thought my chances of winning a prize is. If I didn't think I could win enough to pay for my expenses and my time to pass on the event.

Back then I was a kid. He was a silly old man. I never should have listened to him. :)

Was it the reason you dropped from OTB chess competitions?

No. The reason I dropped out of OTB chess competitions was because I started organizing correspondence chess. In those times, mid 70's to 80's everything was by mail so all my weekends and many evenings were busy. I simply didn't have the time for OTB.

We build the CCCA up to around 700 members and it was all by regular mail. The 1970's to 1989 was the golden age of chess in Canada. Jonathan Berry in OTB chess was dynamic and charismatic. His CFC bulletins a pleasure to read. At least this is my opinion. Don't tell him I told you this.

Ah, but I sorted them that way on purpose :) In Alberta, it is traditional to pair unrated players at 1500. They will only be eligible for open prizes, and maybe a special prize just for Unrated players, if we add one.

Off topic: I once played an unrated player with the last name "Bronstein"!! Despite my fear, I won the game.

The registration for all side events will be done on-site.
Also, we are planning to have the Adams simul on Sunday morning and because the max for that is 25 boards we expect that there will be more people interested than 25, so like in 2005 for the Ivanchuk simul we will probably have a draw done on Saturday night. For those that don't get in we will probably have another simul going on at the same time.
