If you have read the book by Jon Edwards "Sacking the Citadel" on the 3500 Greco bishop sacs on h7 and h2, you will realize that the above position does not have any additional positional assets ( besides the white squared bishop. the kingside knight that goes to g5 and the queen) other than the Knight on c3. However even here the only time the sac worked with only the queenside knight on c3 as an additional asset was when the other knight was not blocking the Queen from passing through f3. Vukovic postulated that white needs at least 2 additional assets (See Edwards work for a list of these) for the sac to work. On page 392 all the included games are indexed by Number of additional Assets classification. In checking the index for any game with 1 additional asset, I didn't find any that were sound in the knight on c3 listed as 1 additional asset classification and there were no sound sacs in the Zero additional asset classification . Therefore the above example is certainly unique in the history of chess. Houdini seems to agree that the sac is sound. The game I played actually had a 7 second increment. Does anyone know how to represent increments in the TimeConrol box of the pgn game header ?
