      Hi Hugh:

I just checked Bryan Lamb's official tournament website, and the pairings are not yet posted. Neither has he sent any to me yet for posting on the discussion boards.

        Hi Hugh,

There may be a concern about noshows and hopefully everbody will check in by 7 pm.

It will be kind of hard for you to prepare for one of these possibilities:

3 GM Eugene Perelshteyn 2601 USA
4 GM Bator Sambuev 2584 ON
5 IM Artiom Samsonkin 2548 ON
6 GM Joshua Friedel 2537 USA
7 IM Leonid Gerzhoy 2528 ON

and not knowing which colour. Usually GM board 1 get White, but it could be a coin toss.

        It looks like 48-4
so you - GM Bator Sambuev

Thanks, I did that too. But the thing is I realized these ratings aren't from the latest CFC ratings update, so for example I move up one spot since I'm 2186 now.

I know I'm in the GM range for the 1st round pairing - it would be nice to know a little more ahead of time since it's the first time I'm playing a GM at classic time controls.

Plus with the latest rating update I should move up one spot, but who knows who else went up and down.

And of course, the GM you will be playing would need to be able to prepare for you too! :) Good luck in the tourney.

Re: PwC Toronto Open - Round 2 pairings

A couple of people tried to enter at the last minute. But I didn't like seeing so many empty boards, wins on forfeit.

The number of entries fill the rooms well. Enough tables in the main hall for 2 sections, while there was some space on the second floor for the Novice.

Logistically people had trouble finding the bathrooms as they're upstairs and also Larry will move his bookstore downstairs to the front.

Wonderful golf shirts with the GTCL logo on front. One player had a hat looked to be leading for the best dressed prize.

Photos and Round 1 results are up. 2 IMs tied, one lost, and B-player Simon Gladstone took off another master. Three games went down to the time scramble with one of the usual suspects being David Southam.

Round 2 pairings should be up on the monroi site

                  and maybe here
