NDP owe 1.17 million for ineligible mass mailings scandal.

The franking privilege should be ended.

The NDP has a lot of explaining to do.

This all adds up to 40% of their campaign funds raised so far for the upcoming election.

I may be wrong, but I seem to vaguely recall an apologist for the NDP explaining that the other major parties have misused mass mailings in similar fashion in the past. If true then perhaps there is some of the pot calling the kettle black going on.

Speaking of the NDP I have heard the odd story/accusation of other party's signs being removed/damaged during federal/provincial campaigns in the past. One time more than a decade ago, as he related it, Ottawa radio host Lowell Green ran as a Liberal, and his signs on lawns kept disappearing. One morning he got up very early and saw a guy wiith a truckload of his signs go into the NDP candidate's office. He soon looked in, and saw the driver having a coffee with the candidate. Lowell quit running as a Liberal sometime later on, after a somewhat pickled guy told him he voted against him four times at the nomination meeting.

For folks who take political shananigans as par for the course for any major party, here's a link that provides an overview of the NDP and much Canadian political history:

That is not a very convincing argument. The stakes are fairly high. The whole satellite office business has been referred to Elections Canada which can send people to jail.

So scary. Are you predicting jail will be the outcome of this?
