    120 Grand Prix Points

    Dr. Erich Marchand “requested that his friends play chess in his memory.”
    5 round Swiss System. Time control is G/120 w/5 second delay.

    4 Sections- You only play opponents in your section. All sections are USCF rated.
    Open Section: (also FIDE rated) $2000-1300-850-550-300;
    Under 2200 & U2000 each $500-300. Total prizes: $6600 Entry Fee: $80
    U1800 Section: $750-500-300; Under 1600 $500-300. Total prizes: $2350 Entry Fee: $65
    U1400 Section: $320-200-140; Under 1200 $200-140. Total prizes: $1000 Entry Fee: $55
    U1000 Section: $260-190-120; Under 800 $140-90. Total prizes: $800 Entry Fee: $45

    Unrated players limited to $75 in U1000, $115 in U1400, $250 in U1800. No limit in Open. Balance to next prize winners.
    All Entry Fees add $20 after 3/7/2015. NYSCA members deduct $3
    Entry fee refunded and $100 appearance fee for all GM and IM if entered by 3/1/2015.
    Registration: 8-9:15am. Rounds: Sat. 10-2:15-6:30, Sun. 10-2:15. One 1/2 point bye
    available in rounds 1, 2 3 or 4.
    Bring sets, boards, and clocks - none supplied. USCF membership required.
    Optional first round Friday 3/13 at 7pm at Rochester Chess Center. Register by 6:30.
    Food court and chess books and equipment sales available on-site. Free Parking.

    Am I spoiled by assuming that boards and sets (and at least some clocks) are supplied at tournaments? It's been years since I've had to bring something like my own board to a tournament.

      Yup - spoiled! Its the rare event I play in, either side of the border, that provides clocks and sets. (30+ years ago, every event I played in provided all the necessary equipment. Times have changed).

      Re the Marchand: the venue is decent, and several GMs typically show up. Last year Kamsky played. I asked him to autograph "Gata Kamsky: Chess Genius" by Gordon and Taylor between rounds. He did, but not before telling me he hated the book :)

        I could not remember playing in US tournaments with chess equipment provided. It's a great help to the organizers without volunteers.
