  • GM Yanofsky: A Person of National Historical Significance?

Here is an idea worth pursuing for Canada's Chess Community:

Nominate the late Grandmaster Daniel Abraham Yanofsky for the category of "Person of National Historical Significance", and put together a strong nomination application to support his inclusion.

Here are some details about this:
    1) About 70 people are nominated each year.
    2) There is currently a total of over 600 people in this category.
    3) A person, to be nominated, must be deceased, and can be designated up to 25 years following their death (although there are many older historical examples for which this was waived).
    4) It is a federal award.

Canadian chessplayers know that Yanofsky is worthy of inclusion, but we have to make the case for him. :)

I hope that caring people can take up this effort.

    Has this been tried already?

    Respectfully,
