  • Windsor Chess Challenge Playoffs and YCC

Around 200+ kids played in the Windsor Chess Challenge Playoffs and YCC today at the Ciociaro Club in Windsor. To qualify for this tournament the kids had to have scored a gold or silver medal at the Windsor Chess Challenge or 6.5 points out of 8 at that tournament (with 1500 participants) which was held in early March. With previous YCC's and qualifiers due to rating or being one of the top three at last year's CYCC, I suspect that Windsor already has over 120 kids eligible to play in CYCC with a few more YCCs and OYCC coming to fill out the roster. I suspect that a non-Easter OYCC will see the biggest Windsor group ever.

There are probably over 3000 kids playing some form of organized chess in their schools in Windsor.

We will be having a third CMA Ontario Chess Challenge qualifier at Massey High School on Monday April 17th starting at 4 pm. Details will be available at the Windsor Chess website windsorchess.com shortly.
