Of note, 16-year-old Aleksandra Goryachkina (2474), the number 1 ranked junior girl in the world, number 58 junior, and number 31 woman, is playing board 3 for the 'BRH' men's team, bypassing the Russian Team 2015 Women competition.

Alexsandra is certainly holding her own through 6 rounds with 1 win, 1 loss, and 4 draws. Her game against Evgeny Alekseev today ended in an amusing stalemate (:

There's definitely a stench coming out of Sochi this morning. The 'Bronze Horsemen' from St. Petersburg and 'University' team out of Beforechensk have taken 6 quick draws, the first 6 games to finish. This assures themselves 3rd and 2nd place finishes respectively and thus qualify for the European Club Cup. If I was the head arbiter I'd give all 12 players big fat zeros for their blatant collusion.

Russian Teams: Aleksey Aleksandrov Fined 5,000 Roubles After Arriving Late for the Game

          Thursday, 07.05.2015

The sixth round of the Russian Team Championships in Sochi begun amidst confusion, when Universitet player Aleksey Aleksandrov arrived eleven minutes late for the game. Under the rules, players who are up to one hour late can be fined 5,000 roubles (about USD 100). We are told the grandmaster overslept. Once it started, his game was quickly agreed drawn.

Oh well, it was going to be drawn anyway...
