When: May 19, 26 & June 2, 9 , 16
Byes: Maximum of two 1/2 point byes in the first four rounds (Rounds 1-4), no bye for Round 5
Bye requests: Any player who wishes to receive a BYE must notify us by 5 pm the Sunday before that round. Byes requested after the deadline will result in zero points. Tentative pairings will be posted online on Mondays and will be finalized on Tuesdays.
Forfeits will be rated.
Format
Style: 5-Round Swiss in 2 sections. CFC rated (for Cup Section*) & unrated for Casual Section/Veterans**.
Sections: Cup* (for CFC members) & Casual** (for non-CFC members)
Round Times: Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Time Control: G/60 min + 30 sec/move.
Arbiter: Yury Cheryachukin
Organizer: The Willowdale Chess Club.
*Chess Federation of Canada (CFC) membership is required ($48 for adults or $30 for juniors). Registrants must be current CFC members or bring payment prior to playing - http://chess.ca/membership-rates.
**CFC membership is not required
Fees & Prizes
Club membership: Required (buy a six-week tournament membership for $5 or annual membership for $10).
Entry fee: $10 (to cover CFC rating fees and small souvenirs)
Late fee: $5 on site.
Avoid late fee: Pre-register/confirm your participation before end of day on Sunday May 17th and pay on May 19th ($15).
Prizes: Small souvenirs for Section winners (no cash prizes).

Registration: Cash on site from 6:00 p.m. to 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday (help speed things up - please be onsite before 6:20 p.m.). No cheques on site.
Registration cut-off: Please make sure you have checked yourself in ONSITE and paid entry fees before 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday to guarantee a pairing for Round 1.
Other Things
Chess sets are provided for play. Please bring your own digital clock to make sure we have enough clocks. If neither of players has a digital clock (highly unlikely scenario), both will be getting a zero. To keep the entry fee low, we want to encourage each and every chess player to have his or her own digital clock. Players taking a bye in Round 1 can pay the entry fee 10 minutes before the Start of Round 2. Free parking provided.
