What's the final call as far as norms are concerned? I don't think Razvan got a GM norm, he was saying he had to win all his games starting from round 5 on, and although he came very close he lost to Michael Song once. Still 3.5/5 against three extremely strong GM's is very impressive. Michael got 4.5/9 and Jason got 4/9. What are the requirement?

It was Michael von Keitz who inputed the games and uploaded them to chess-results. I only setup the Swiss-Manager on his computer.

No norms were awarded after this tournament. 6 1/2 was necessary for the GM norm and 6 for the IM norm.

Tuesday last round at the Kitchener Masters was a great wrap to the Kitchener Chess Festival this year. GM Bareev won it easily with 8/9 and received a nice bonus gift of a cherrywood chess table from master craftsman Jim Koudounis (see www.embracewood.com). I bumped into Angie Day and her partner Derek (I'll always know her as Angie Day) and we all shared stories. Angie was there visiting the Fed and everyone retired to Crabby Joes for more stories but I unfortunately had to go back to work. I also had some conversations with Stephen Wright who spent his last hours in Kitchener at the chess tables. Congratulations Stephen on your upcoming IA title.

Will this event be rated by the CFC the next week?
