  • CFC Handbook

Recently I was asked a question which required consulting the regulations for the CFC quick rating system to answer. These I knew to be in the CFC Handbook, so I went searching for the same at the CFC website. Problem one: the menu system has changed, and the Handbook isn’t where it used to be. After experimenting I eventually find it after going through two menus (About Us, CFC Info) and click on the CFC handbook link. Problem two: the previous index with links has disappeared, instead I find a page which discusses making the CFC compliant with the new NFP Act (eyes start glazing over). After scrolling down a very long way I eventually come across the section on quick ratings and other practical matters. Overall a very frustrating and time-consuming experience. To whom it may concern: PLEASE make it easier to find information by including a linked index at the top of the page (and maybe making the page itself easier to find).

Problem 1: Guilty. We were trying out better menu arrangements. There maybe more to come, but we'll try and keep it logical.

Problem 2: Somebody else. I suggest we try listing "old handbook" and "new handbook" both as we build the new one. That would be helpful and transparent.

At the end of this there are sections links. For future: click http://chess.ca/handbook#section-1 and scroll up.
      A direct link to Rating - http://chess.ca/handbook#section-4

Updating the handbook is a discussion point in the CFC AGM.
