At that link it shows Eric got a draw in Round 2... not sure Rd 3 has finished? Ah, yes, after further digging I see Eric did win Round 3.

Thanks for the link Hans! I enjoyed playing thru Eric's win with Black over Pruijssers - love the way he provoked 13. g3. Go Eric!!

          Re: Congratulations Eric!

Eric is now tied for the lead with 5.5/7. He appears to be fighting for a half point in round 8, being down a pawn in an endgame with R+B +5 vs R+N+6.

            Re: Congratulations Eric!

Eric drew his round 8 game, but the co-leader Abasov won, leaving Eric a half point behind with one round to go.

Eric had almost an hour and half left on his clock. One got the feeling he was making a point, while scoring one.

The sad part was that it looks like the Lai-Abasov game was a pretty easy R+P vs R draw, and then it would have been a tie for first!

I was thinking while watching 72 Kg1! (King to the short side) should draw with the usual short side defence and Rook checking from the other side, and was kind of surprised an FM didn't know this. Of course, I'm not exactly an endgame god, so I could be wrong...
