While it is possible to take up to three half point byes and they will counted as half point byes in the CFC rating system they will be counted as zero point byes in the FIDE system and taking a bye will likely negate any opportunity for a FIDE title.

Beat the HST. Once we collect $50,000 in entry fees for the three tournaments we are hosting this summer (CYCC, Canadian Open, NAYCC) we are required to collect and remit HST (13%) by the latest opinion I have from CRC The Canada Revenue Agency. Until we hit $50,000 in revenues we do not need to nor are we allowed to collect HST.Monday, August 8, Round 2: 10:00 am Round 3: 3:00 pm

$65 U.S. facility fee for those not staying in the official hotel. Waived for local players (defined as metropolitan Windsor, Detroit area and nearby Michigan players). Why the extra fee? Caesars Windsor is providing us with $100,000 in meeting space. It is doing so on the understanding that we will be encouraging people to stay in their hotel which is a very nice hotel. IF these tournaments are successful from the point of view of all stakeholders this will likely lead to many more tournaments at this same site under similar conditions which are very favourable to the players and the organizers.
Why is this fee waived for local players? Mainly because the the parents, older brothers and sisters and coaches of the local players are the ones who are taking the risk on this tournament and are the army of volunteers you will be seeing every day making sure that this is a wonderful experience for everyone involved. No one involved in the organization of this tournament is making a profit and are taking some significant financial risks.
Why are the tournament entry fees denominated in U.S. dollars? Mainly to reduce our currency risk. There are significant fees and costs associated with this tournament which are denominated in U.S. dollars. We are mitigating the risk factors. Canadians please register early as the situation with the currency only appears to be getting worse from the point of view of Canadians. Of course, for our U.S. players this means that your costs to attend these tournaments are going down from your point of view and you should be able to get some good bargains when you go shopping in Windsor between and after the rounds.
Super early bird entry fee pre HST until February 20th, 2016:

This deadline may be extended until March 1st if we aren't past the $50,000 threshold between the three tournaments CYCC, Canadian Open and NAYCC. See the website http://www.windsorchess.org/tournaments for updates.

CAESARS WINDSOR HOTEL ONLINE AND TELEPHONE REGISTRATION:
You can click on the following link to reserve a room at Caesars Windsor. We encourage you to do so early so that we have an idea of how many people are coming to the party. If we find out early that more people are coming we will probably increase our room block size. If we find out that the tournament will be smaller than we expected rooms will released back to the hotel for sale. If you decide to register later, this is a busy time of the year for all hotels. They will sell out. Rooms at Caesars routinely go for $279 per night or at least they do when the hotel gets busy. We know because we looked at organizing a February tournament and that's how much people would need to pay to stay in the hotel.
