  • "Petlines; How to pick them!"Adv.lecture/CityNews coming tomorrow! - Pub Chess Toront

Pub Chess Toronto has a new website, check it out: http://pubchess.org

ATTENTION: If you love chess AND want to be filmed for TV come on Feb 24. CityNews is coming in to do footage of the chess club. You might be one of the lucky ones who gets interviewed! He will be coming around 7:30 PM.

"Every chess player should know sidelines which he/she is a specialist on. Those are what we call petlines. Some aren't solid, and some are too tame. The trick is to reach a golden middle which I'll be exploring this Wednesday!" - National Master Mike Ivanov

    Lecture starts at 7:10 PM.
    Tournament starts at 7:45 PM.
Casual Play anytime between 7 - 10:30 PM.
    Females play FREE.
Feel free to ask the organizers for some tips during your casual games!

    ****

    - Learn and play chess in a social atmosphere. Pub Chess Toronto's founders are top players in the country.
    - We hold teaching sessions/lectures + casual/competitive play. Currently, we are re-located at "The Madison", which is in the heart of Annex and 2 mins walk from Spadina station. Our past location was "The Central", Markham & Bloor.
    - The point of our meet up is to popularize chess. Chess is known to be a very sophisticated game but we want to show the social and fun aspect of it! Come out, drink/eat, meet new people over the chess board!
-If you are not sure whether you can or can't make it, please list "maybe" or "interested", it helps us to raise popularity in the event/club.

Some of us have our displays set up in "linear mode" (more relevant text on the screen) and the most recent post at the top - the original post may be several pages back (or eventually will be). :-) It can't be too hard to simply re-post the link each time.
