  • 5 Round Swiss Format Pairing Question

A quick question on a five round Swiss format pairing -- I don't have a software to validate the following:

    19 players, say their name is A, B, C ... S ordered by rating.

For Round 1, player S will take a 1 point bye due to odd number of players. Player A (white) vs Play J at board 1, B (black) vs K on board 2, C (white) vs L on board 3....etc
    For Round 2, assuming player A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I won the first round. Plus player S, 10 players will have 1 point to pair. In this case A (black) vs F, B (white) vs G, C (black) vs H, D (white) vs I, E (black) vs S.

For Round 3, assuming player A, B, C, D, E won the second round and have 2 points.
    The publish pairing was A (white) vs D on board 1; B (black) vs C on board 2; E (2.0 white) vs F (1.0) on board 3.

Is this a correct paring? I thought Swiss system pairing for round 3 should be
A (white) vs D (black) on board 1; B (black) vs E (white) on board 2, C (white) vs F (black) on board 3.

Could anyone shed some light? thanks in advance.

Re: 5 Round Swiss Format Pairing Question

It seems to me that the top player in the bottom group would play up against the bottom player in the top group so the published pairing looks correct based on adjustments for colours. A caveat is that it is 3:30 in the morning and sleep deprivation may impair the correctness of my reasoning.
