The event is restricted to players rated below 2,000 Rapid rating. It will only cost $5 to enter and the entire amount goes to the prize pool.
To enter just go to the PubChess website, sign in and RSVP so we'll know how many chess sets will be needed on that Tuesday night. Also, please put a link on your desktop to check for the date when future tourneys are announced.

It's game on Tuesday at the TIME CAPSULE CAFE 2183 Danforth at Woodbine subway station.
We start at 7 pm and should have a winner by 10 pm.
This will be a knockout tournament with 3 or 4 rounds depending on the number of entries. All games are scored as decisive as a draw counts as a win for black (clearly not a format for purists). The colours to be decided at the start of each round by coin flip - the winner of the coin flip can choose either white or black.
Upon arrival, you will be asked to purchase a $5 food/drink coupon which counts as $5 toward payment of your food/drink tab at the end of the evening.
Or you have the option of paying your tournament entry with the coupon instead of $5 cash. The Prize pool will consist of $5 x no. of entries
To indicate your intent to enter, please go to the Pub Chess site below and RSVP - YES so we'll know how many chess sets to provide. >>>>>

The tournament is on for sure!
Although we don't have one ideal place for players to sign in - Pub Chess leads the sign-ins and others phone me,
The list so far looks like this >>>>>

      Erik Malmsten
      Peter McSherry
      Alex Boiesan
      Keith Johnson
      Elizabeth Smith
      Chris Wood
      Igor
      Morey

This bodes well for the tourney as many players like to arrive unannounced - so we can hope for a 16 player field and an $80 prize pool.
As you may imagine, most on the list are not rated tournament players - which is a good thing as newcomers will not be overwhelmed by superior force!
      CU tonight?
