Have they shown up already and played in some chess tournaments organized in Montreal or somewhere nearby? We will be watching their chess activity on this soil. Good luck to them both in their Canadian settlement.
    :)

There is no chess 'variant' called Canadian chess. There is a 'variant' or actualy a different game called Chinese chess though. Xiangqi is played alot in Chinese Canadian communities. You can for example find pick up games on Spadina in Toronto, buy a set in the shops there if you are so inclined and there is a Toronto Xiangqi association that holds tournaments and championships.

Of course Xiangqi is mainly played in China and elsewhere in Asia.

I think Zeljko emphasized a possible misinterpretation of "Chinese chess master". The same way is
Kevin Spraggett (born 10 November 1954, Montreal) is a Canadian chess grandmaster. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Spraggett
    Does Canadian chess exist? ;)

The both newcomers are FIDE chess grandmasters from China.

That's excellent news Larry. Welcome to Montreal!

Would you happen to know what languages they speak?

I don't know how much interest there is, but I would be interested in attending the occasional lecture such as the presentation made by Pascal Charbonneau at the MCC when he got his GM title.
