Magnus Carlsen to Appear on The Simpsons

    July 24, 2016

In addition to the show’s regular cast of voice actors, celebrity guest stars have been a stable of the animated television series The Simpsons.

They can be either an original character or themselves.

The late Phil Hartman played two characters, Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz. Actor Kelsey Grammer appears as Side Show Bob, who is intent on killing Bart.

Celebrities who have played themselves are Stephen Hawking, Mel Gibson, James Taylor, Leonard Nimoy and Mick Jagger.

The San Diego Comic Con is now in progress and there scriptwriter Al Jean confirmed Saturday evening that Magnus will be on the show in the coming season.

He will record his lines in a studio in Oslo and they will be incorporated into an episode in the coming year.

Karpov was on The Simpsons in 1990 ...albeit on a lunchbox!

My favorite chess moment on The Simpsons:

Bart: Hey, Lis, what do you call those guys in chess that don't matter?
Lisa: Well, a blockaded bishop is of little value, but I think you're referring to a pawn.
Bart: Right, I am a pawn.
