Or if Canada is alone in the boycott, then a bikinis vs burkas match with the burkas represented by any woman who wish to play so dressed. Guess what the final score would be. And THAT picture would REALLY get into the news!

In fact if both Canada and the USA boycott, then we could stage a protest event - a Canada USA ladies match with the girls all in bikinis. Now that would capture the attention of the world's press. And we all know that chess needs more coverage (:) ) in the press.

If Irani women are allowed to wear a hijab in public in Canada, then Canadian women should be allowed to wear what they want in Iran.
    Otherwise boycott the event.

Sadly, for the first time in years I see a newspaper article about a chess event and it is about this.

Well, the guys had to wear these traditional chinese clothes during the tournament in Nanjing (2009). Of course the underlying issues are vastly different, but I'm not sure I'd like to wear an outfit that means nothing to me, just so that the local crowd is pleased.

Women should ask for financial compensation in order to wear the hidjab at this chess tournament. Fine, you want us to wear it? Pay us and we'll wear it.
