    Baku Olympiad 2016 (Open)

    November 21, 2016

The 2016#7 issue of New In Chess arrived today. Baadur Jobava is on the cover with an interview entitled “I am my own worst enemy”.

As expected, Nigel Short writes about being scanned on his return to the washroom, while his game was in progress. Short’s piece is entitled Ludus Interruptus.

A small quote from the two pages just to set up his comment:

As I discovered subsequently, trouble had been brewing throughout the tournament. Hikaru Nakamura, for instance, had been stopped twice during one game and was thus hardly to blame for reacting with anger. But matters came to a head in round seven, during my tense encounter against Li Chao from China. Returning from the bathroom, I was accosted by Jamie Kenmure, who attempted to detain me to perform a search with his electronic wand.

    Ah, Nigel!
