    He's a ridiculous hypocrite.
Based on the Olympiad, he believes that there is a rule that all rules can be broken. If so, then this rule can be broken, which means.......

The real mistake of the organizers was to invite this 50+ years old boy that never grew up to play in this exhibition match. What a disgrace that at this point in his career he is looking at protecting a couple of rating points...

Short did not say that all rules can be broken. He reserved that option for rules that make no sense. The match rating rule makes complete sense, and FIDE should apply it -- as it has in fact. Short's dispute with the Baku Olympiad arbiters about the security check rule does not entitle the Dutch organizers to break a completely different rule just because Short is involved.

Sad. There is a substantive debate going on, and your contribution is calling other people names.

That's right. Short may be "a 50+ year old boy" but he is a boy with a better than average common sense.

It would have been a substantive debate if it was the case of a top 10 young ascending player who would have lost a Candidate place due to this situation. But in this case we have a semi-retired player whose career prospects will not change a bit due to the result of his last game in the match. He may have more than average common sense, but in this case, really?

Nothing to discuss anymore: the last game was not rated as I see on fide.com. imho, the rule makes sense. (the Olympiad procedure is a total BS)
