  • LakeCity Open prizes

The preregistered list has broken the record from the previous two years. There are now 27 players registered. We could hit the 40 player limit.
Preregistration ends at midnight tonight. http://lakecitychess.homestead.com

In the tradition of the LakeCity Open where the focus has been encouraging local players in their chess endeavors, we have modified Youth 1st and 2nd prizes. We have replaced the 1st place prize of a seat at the reserve section in the Chess2inspire BC Junior Championship with the 1st place winner receiving a trophy and the choice of having their entry fee paid for the The Grand Pacific Open, BC Open Championship, or the Paul Keres Memorial. and we've added the 2nd place winner receiving a trophy and having their entry fee paid for the BC Open Championship or the Paul Keres Memorial. For those who can't make any of the tournament dates we have a cash prize of $50 and $35 respectively.

The Grand Pacific Open is BC's largest chess tournament and this will be its 11th annual, the BC Open is in its 53rd year, the Paul Keres Memorial is in its 42nd year. All three are 6 round Fide and CFC rated Swiss style 3 day tournaments with players of all ages. After playing in a CFC rated tournament, the BC youth from the interior will have a CFC rating, a great introduction and experience. The idea being chess supporters support chess.

3rd in the Youth Tournament receives a trophy and a $25 Kit and Kaboodle gift certificate, and 4th place receives a $25 Kit and Kaboodle gift certificate. There are more prizes for the youth provided by The Realm of Toys and Taylor Made Cakes & Sweets.
The Open tournament remains much the same. 1st $150, 2nd $100, 3rd $50, and 4th, a Gecko Tree Cafe lunch for two worth $40.

    See you there.
    Regards,
    Aki and Scott
