Round Four
There are YouTube videos of three interviews after Round Four conducted by Tania Sachdev.
The first is with Tuvshintugs Batchimeg, the Mongolian lady, who drew with Kevin Spraggett today
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gmB4fvqhI0
She played Kevin today and Fabiano yesterday. She just got her visa on the 20th and arrived in Gibraltar on the 21st. Back in her country it is -30C, so it is quite a change.
Nigel Short is interviewed
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNPLcTmf1qA
He was delighted with his win over Grigoriants today. He sacrificed a piece, no idea about the opening or theory but still won.
He said he had way too much to drink last night and was just trying to sober up. Last night, at his table, he was not sitting with anyone and left alone and one glass of wine is not enough and a bottle is too much. Wine is meant to be shared. He played the blitz after and in the first round was just crushing Fabiano when things took a turn for the worst.
He is finding his rhythm in the tournament now and is happy with his standing.
Although now, one of the most active players on social media, he only discovered twitter a few years ago and have become a big fan. He is just naturally accumulating followers. He has 22,400 of them but hopes to eventually have enough to fill Lord’s Cricket Ground. The ground can currently hold up to 28,000 spectators.
Hikaru Nakamura beat Benjamin Gledura today
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrIu8MsZtw8
His opponent was not familiar with the variation.
When an opponent is young and talented, one prepares by trying to find a variation or opening that doesn’t suit his style. He beat Vishy Anand last year so Hikaru was aware of his strength.
