anyone else having problems accessing the CFC site? I'm getting a demand to log in and then a 404.

Hi John,

We expected the change over would only disrupt service for only a few minutes, so no need to advise of a disruption.
Obviously, it hasn't gone as smoothly as planned.

Hopefully service will be restored soon. Please be patient.

It would have been nice if the CFC had told it's members that they were disrupting service during this change over.

That is pretty hard to do; posting a message on the site will only inform people who visit in the couple of days the notice is up.
For planned long outages of course, it is possible to organize an alternate (temporary) server that simply provides a message, but that is actually a lot of work...
I have to ask: what in the world is on the CFC site that is so important to access?

I was being sarcastic... perhaps I should have asked what was so important in real time. The only time critical information on the CFC website is, as you point out, the rating information and membership info and that would be critically important only to Tournament Directors... Anyway, a small amount of down time should not cause a great hullaballoo

Oh, you'd be surprised! LOL

Anyway, an update.
The main server is still down, but our backup server is online and running fine.
Rating update is still scheduled for tomorrow as usual.
If the backup server can't handle the update, updated rating info will be available to TD's via a dropbox link.

Yeah, membership status of players for my tournament in Burlington,this Saturday. I am constantly checking there for players info.

The ratings update is complete.
But we are experiencing difficulties uploading to the website.
It may well be tomorrow until it is resolved.
It must be that elephant in the room. :)
