  • A cute little story

Yesterday a fellow brought his youngster to the chess club for youngsters in Montreal. Gilbert Delisle (who has been with Chess'n Math from the very beginning-over 31 years!) was a approached by the fellow. Apparently he had taken chess lessons with Gilbert when he was in grade 3! and now....he is bringing his kids to us for chess!

Gilbert Delisle was doing chess full-time in the 1970's. In fact when La Presse sponsored the game in Quebec, he was hired by Roger Lemelin (Publisher for La Presse at the time and reasonable chess player) to teach chess in schools where money was an issue. I don't think there is anyone in Canada today (or ever for that matter) who has been earning their living doing chess for close to 50 years!

    Pretty amazing :)
