General Guidelines
---- Nous avons besoin d'un traduction français!
Some Basics
1. Under Board "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQs) there are 3 sections dealing with General Forum Usage, User Profile Features, and Reading and Posting Messages. These deal with everything from Avatars to Your Notifications. Most general technical questions are covered there. Here is a link to the FAQs. https://forum.chesstalk.com/help
2. Consider using the SEARCH button if you are looking for information. You may find your question has already been answered in a previous thread.
3. If you've looked for an answer to a question, and not found one, then you should consider asking your question in a new thread. For example, there have already been questions and discussion regarding: how to do chess diagrams (FENs); crosstables that line up properly; and the numerous little “glitches” that every new site will have.
4. Read pinned or sticky threads, like this one, if they look important. This applies especially to newcomers.
5. Read the thread you're posting in before you post. There are a variety of ways to look at a thread. These are covered under “Display Modes”.
6. Thread titles: please provide some details in your thread title. This is useful for a number of reasons. It helps ChessTalk members to quickly skim the threads. It prevents duplication of threads. And so on.
7. Unnecessary thread proliferation (e.g., deliberately creating a new thread that duplicates existing discussion) is discouraged. Look to see if a thread on your topic may have already been started and, if so, consider adding your contribution to the pre-existing thread. However, starting new threads to explore side-issues that are not relevant to the original subject is strongly encouraged. A single thread on the Canadian Open, with hundreds of posts on multiple sub-topics, is no better than a dozen threads on the Open covering only a few topics. Use your good judgment when starting a new thread.
8. If and/or when sub-forums are created, please make sure to create threads in the proper place.
Debate
9. Give an opinion and back it up with a reason. Throwaway comments such as "Game X pwnz because my friend and I think so!" could be considered pointless at best, and inflammatory at worst.
10. Try to give your own opinions, not simply those copied and pasted from reviews or opinions of your friends.
Unacceptable behavior and warnings
11. In registering here at ChessTalk please note that the same or similar rules apply here as applied at the previous Boardhost message board. In particular, the following content is not permitted to appear in any messages:
* Racism
* Hatred
* Harassment
* Adult content
* Obscene material
* Nudity or pornography
* Material that infringes intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any party
* Material the posting of which is tortious or violates a contractual or fiduciary obligation you or we owe to another party
* Piracy, hacking, viruses, worms, or warez
* Spam
* Any illegal content
* unapproved Commercial banner advertisements or revenue-generating links
* Any link to or any images from a site containing any material outlined in these restrictions
* Any material deemed offensive or inappropriate by the Board staff
12. Users are welcome to challenge other points of view and opinions, but should do so respectfully. Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated. Posts and threads with unacceptable content can be closed or deleted altogether. Furthermore, a range of sanctions are possible - from a simple warning to a temporary or even a permanent banning from ChessTalk.
Helping to Moderate
13. 'Report' links (an exclamation mark inside a triangle) can be found in many places throughout the board. These links allow users to alert the board staff to anything which is offensive, objectionable or illegal. Please consider using this feature if the need arises.
Advice for free
14. You should exercise the same caution with Private Messages as you would with any public posting.
It is your approach my friend and that of millions of democrats that is disrespectful to the memories of those that paid the ultimate price to be free to chose any religion or political party that they want and have the freedom to express their views.
No one is stopping you from expressing your views. I don't have a problem with you expressing your views.
I'm just expressing my view that you're ignorant. You seem to have a problem, insofar as you have a problem with fascism, with me expressing my view, as you stated you think it's "fascist" for me to dismiss you as ignorant.
Thus, you're the only one that has a problem with someone expressing one's views.
You're a high-strung conservative snowflake, just like the rest of them.
I don't think you understand what a fascist is. Your hyperbole is actually kind of disrespectful towards those who have suffered under fascist policies.
The LGBT expels Jews from their March, BLM declares Israel a apartheid genocidal state, Clinton's campaign discussed using Sanders Jewish heritage as way to portray a unfavorable view(read all about in Wikileaks). You worry about others rights well guess what, I am going worry about my rights for a change. I have more then one relative still alive today that survived this nice place called Auschwitz, one of whom lives in Sweden, the liberals in Malmo have allowed Islamic radicals to overrun the place and terrorize jews. He consider's the Islamic apologist attitude of the democrats both in Sweden and America and their anti Israel stance as fascist and definitely not mere hyperbole. He certainly would not call the characterization of the liberal Democrats as fascist or hyperbole as disrespectful to the suffering he endured in the past.
The lack of tolerance you have displayed as well as the numerous examples that Tom Odonnell has shown of other democrats clearly demonstrates the approach of the Fascists. I have forgotten more about what Fascism is then you know. It is your approach my friend and that of millions of democrats that is disrespectful to the memories of those that paid the ultimate price to be free to chose any religion or political party that they want and have the freedom to express their views. Put that in your huka and smoke it.
This is what y'all wanted. This is what y'all knew was coming. The most powerful man in the world attacked a woman for her appearance, and that's normal.
you implied that I did not care about other social injustices.
You don't. You say you do, but your support for Trump says you don't. You care more about the issues that affect you. Don't you realize that everyone's been caring about the issues that affect you, the privileged class, for as long as anyone can remember? Why is it so radical to endorse, above everything else, the reforms that help the most oppressed groups? Why is equality so radical to you? You say you're not a white supremacist, but you support the candidate whose actions reinforce the white supremacist elements of our government and society. You say you're not a sexist, but you support the candidate whose actions reinforce the sexist elements of our government and society. You say you're not a homophobe. You say you're not a transphobe. You say lots of things. But you support Trump, a man whose election has harmed those groups that have already been harmed the most. Yeah, yeah, say some more. I know what you say. But I know how to read between the lines.
So, yes, i stand by my view that you are fascist in your approach to those with different priorities then yours.
I don't think you understand what a fascist is. Your hyperbole is actually kind of disrespectful towards those who have suffered under fascist policies.
Who are these people? I never come across people like that. What I do come across is conservatives like Belzberg who randomly call people fascists for disagreeing with them or disliking their views.
Only when you started calling me "ignorant , obstinate, unwoke" for stating what my priorities were in considering choosing Clinton or Trump just like the folks depicted in the video that generalize, because I considered Iran issues,the Clinton's cavalier attitude about fissionable material (bribable commodity) and the economy important priorities you implied that I did not care about other social injustices. You also unjustly attacked me and implied I was lying about my motivations for considering one candidate over the other. So, yes, i stand by my view that you are fascist in your approach to those with different priorities then yours.
Where I live, Drkulec's zealous idol worship of Trump is not just a wild position held by extremists but the wholehearted conviction of a sizable minority. And it harms people. Trump harms people. The propagation of the view that Trump is good harms people. It is important to speak up against that which harms others.
Four things:
1. You can't always accurately judge a President's performance by looking at his numbers on a macro-scale. Obama's tenure was during a recession, whose onset you surely can't blame on him. Maybe you blame Bush 43, maybe you blame Clinton 42, if you're a sensible person you probably blame both to some degree; but you can't reasonably blame the Obama administration for the fact that he had to tenure during a recession. America was already bleeding jobs when he took over. Obama took over a country with a lot of negative momentum. Over the course of eight years, he managed to right the ship in at least some ways.
2. Social equality is more important than economic stability, at an incremental level. People act like under Democrats the economy is a fucking mess. It's fine. You have rich jokers like Belzberg complaining, but trust me, he's doing fine. What's not fine is the rate of social reform under Republicans.
3. My ideal solution to widespread poverty is universal basic income, and almost a Lochner era right to contract. Democrats don't agree with me on the right to contract, but they're starting to get the universal basic income part down. It's at least a step in the right direction.
4. Don't you think people know what's best for themselves? Black people, by and large, think the Democrats improve their lives more than Republicans do. This is based on their own valuations of their own lives. Who are you to doubt those valuations?
Thanks for the reply, Ben. FWIW, you can't rebuke a fool.
Who am I to doubt those valuations? Just a concerned citizen of the world, that's all. I was shocked as most folks were (those of us who care) to see such declines for African Americans during Obama's tenure. And most of those cities have controlled by Dems for years on end ... propaganda after propaganda on end. It must be rather difficult to make an informed/rational decision when under such control. The control is directly proportional to their decline as evidenced in the links I cited ...and there's too many more of those. But perhaps this is more of a State control?
Will Dr. Ben Carson make a change? I doubt it, but he is well aware of the issues. That kind of change has to come from within. Apparently, Carson's plan is to help enable that change with government and private financial support.
I'm willing to give him a chance.
BTW, my first direct encounter with Black America and American racial divide in general was when I decided to jump into the fray for the Jena Six.
I had the honor of creating a graphic for the NAACP ...what an eye-opening experience! My graphic was so jarring (even to me) that within 1 minute after I clicked Send ...I was on the phone to them asking if I had gone to far!!!
Fast forward, all the Black inner city rappers and hip hop artist I've had the great honor of doing graphics for (call me Fam!) has allowed me to participate in their world through their eyes! I keep in touch on a weekly basis, and during early stages of design on a daily basis. Some have my work tattooed! My latest art work honors a crew member that was shot dead ...I used the 'n' word as the major graphic element of the cover art.
Ya, I know a little of that world.
Do I think Dr. Ben Carson can help? I'm willing to give him a chance.
peace.
