    Questions re: Zoltan S.

    Couple of questions for anybody...
    1. the CFC site and Wikipedia both say ZS won the Canadian Correspondence Ch. three times (1967, 1972, 1981), and
    2. that he became a Correspondence IM in 1988, but...
    3. in the interview from "Cyber-Seniors" he says he won the CCCh. four times [1:06],
    4. and that he became a Corresp. IM "in 1983" [1:17] at the age of "77".

The ICCF page has his IM title listed as 1988, which I would take be authoritative. Possibly ZS misstated the date because Corresp. tournaments can be so long that maybe the title was awarded in 1988 based on a tournament which began in 1983.

PS: please respond here rather than by email. I just moved, and Bell has screwed up my email.

Wait, Kevin Spraggett's putting forth an idiotic conspiracy theory? Are you sure? Sounds so out of character for him...

R.I.P. Mr. Sarosy. I am glad I had the opportunity to meet such a fine gentleman. I will always remember him explaining to my parents why I needed a chess clock in 1972. I still own that BHB clock. I was happy and amazed when we exchanged emails a few years ago, he could remember me playing on his team in the Metro Chess League as well as other memories. I was really hoping he could break the record for oldest living person, but 110 is still pretty amazing.
