We've not yet started to do much about the next Aurora Open except that the hall was booked for the Fall Open one year ago. Though, 2 players have already convinced us to accept their entry fees LOL

Important information:

Dates: October 14-15, 2017

Place: The Royal Canadian Legion 89 Industrial Parkway North, Aurora, Ontario L4G 4C4

Prizes: First in Open Section – minimum 500 CAD. Overall prize fund $2000+ (based on entries).

Sections: Open and U2000 - CFC & FIDE rated; U1600, U1300, U900 – CFC rated

Time Control: 90 minutes per player + 30 seconds per move starting from move one.

Entry fees: Players must be CFC members. GM, WGM, IM and WIM free entry if confirmed by October 10.

Paid by October 10 (Tuesday) - 65 CAD
Paid by October 13 (Friday 5 pm) - 85 CAD
Tournament day - 100 CAD; paired for Round 2

For an additional Play-up fee – 30 CAD – a player can enter the higher Section if his/her rating is less than 100 points lower than the Section floor limit.

Registration: Only players who have registered and paid will be paired for Round one. Round one pairings will be posted in advance on our website late Friday night. You no longer need to “check-in” on Saturday as in previous tournaments.

a player can enter the higher Section if his/her rating is less than 100 points lower than the Section floor limit.
So top section is not open. According to Brodie.

Depends how close to each other you'd like to play :) Our estimation is 144 players to have a comfortable tournament.
The last time we accommodated all willing to come, though it took several days to figure out all details, and meanwhile some declined offers due to changes in their plans. Thus, don't leave to the last minute to register :)

bumping the thread -> ten days till the tournament!!!

IM Amon Hambleton joined the tournament, as well as other ~15 players. Though, the bureaucracy wheels move slowly and they are not on the online list yet.
