  • CFC and the missing $60,000.00

Does Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, President of FIDE, still owe the Chess Federation of Canada 60k? Wasn't there a 'promised' (not quite the exact word I'm looking for) 80k of which only 20k was received by the CFC, leaving the balance outstanding to this day?

    Thanks in advance.

Vlad can probably give a better answer, but in my mind, that deal was dead once the US sanctions were put in place against him and he was removed from any Administrative role in FIDE. Yes we received the 1st year allotment of $20K.

      Thanks, Fred.

To what 'deal' do you refer?

Does the corporation know as The Chess Federation of Canada have all the email exchanges between FIDE president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and the CFC. This is a corporate matter ...not a Vlad matter.

FIDE still owes the CFC $60,000.00.

Why would a foreign government (US) have any impact on the 'deal' between two NON-US entities FIDE & CFC?

We should stop running FIDE events until the balance, $60,000.00 is paid ...and make our position very public on every chess forum in the world.

How do we simply brush off $60,000.00???

Especially since it has already been announced that the CFC will be running a deficit next year!

I don't have any more to say on this, here at CT. It's lucky the CFC AGM is starting tomorrow. Perhaps a VM can ask these same questions.

OK, thanks Fred. I appreciate your thoughts, as always.

I realize it's a very tender subject matter ... but still, it is a lot of money owed ... and we need the money.

Rub salt in the wound ... we blindly continue to send FIDE money hand over fist.

Just a I question, where did you get that FIDE owes?
Do you remember how those monies appeared on a horizon?

So... the 60k is not missing. It just never existed.

Thread title is misleading at best.

From threads here on CT that Drkulec has participated, one includes a breakdown on how the first $20,000.00 of the promised $80,000.00 was spent.

Which leaves an outstanding balance of $60,000.00.

O my goodness! The Hillary emails, the Trump Jr. emails and now the VLAD/CFC/FIDE emails?

He promised $80,000 US for Canadian norm tournaments for four years. In the next elections if he decides to run, CFC should vote for anyone other than him because he broke a direct promise to our Federation.

If the $80k over 4 years was a promise by a presidential candidate, that's different than if it was an actual agreement with FIDE itself. Did the CFC have a signed agreement with FIDE or with an individual making an election promise? They're different things.

                            Thanks for your reply, Vlad.

It seems to me that either | Kirsan Ilyumzhinov as the candidate | or now | Kirsan Ilyumzhinov president of FIDE | can & should be held accountable.

It's a shame the Chess Federation of Canada doesn't have the backbone, nor the leadership, to get this done.

How do you brush off $60,000.00?

There must be an email trail for this contract.

So either way, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov still owes the missing $60,000.00.
