Aronian - Short rd 7 (right now) What an interesting fighting game. Nigel found a complex trick (or perhaps very deeply it was the only way for Black to fight!?) It looks now like Levon will hang on to the piece but kudos to Nigel for a nice try and definitely interesting chess.

It was stormy on the Rock today. One of the forums said this: This morning it was scaffolding collapsing into a roadway, which may or may not be fixed, but the main bus route was affected. However, this pm there has been a rockfall on the main route into the Calleta and no buses are running. If you're lucky, a taxi will come and take you the wrong way round the mountain. The only other alternative is walking that route with heavy wind and swell plus a risking going through a tunnel which in theory is closed to pedestrians.

I counted 22 byes today - I don't know whether that is because people couldn't make it in to the tournament site.

Nakamura is now in full drawing form. Praggnanandhaa (is that the correct spelling - I notice anand and also 5 A's -it will get easier to spell as we get to know him better.
