After sixteen years as chess coordinator at the city of Kitchener I am stepping down. I have enjoyed promoting, playing, organizing, writing and teaching in the chess community, and have many fond memories to carry with me. It feels like the end of a chapter of my life, however I still have a few chess projects calling me and I wont disappear from the chess scene.

Re: end of a chapter
Congrats on so many years of hard work, Hans. As far as I can tell, yours was a one-of-a-kind chess job in Canada. I hope you find a way to share your experience, or encourage another to take up a similar role, etc.
Best wishes,
Nigel Hanrahan

Hans, your work was evident in local tournaments that had some of your participants introduced to competitive chess. Congratulations on a job well done, to a fine gentleman.

Good luck Hans. I always enjoy your posts here. Maybe try chess in the mountains for your next chapter:)
