  • 2ND ANNUAL WATERDOWN CHESS CLUB CHALLENGE - April 14, 2018 ( Saturday ) - ONE DAY

Chess tournament coming to Waterdown !!!

Waterdown Chess Club was born on September 2015 ( 2 and half years ago ) and we are in our 3rd year operation now. We have managed to attract mainly juniors - 95% junior players age ranging from as young as 6 years to 18 years old.

Currently we have about 40 young players coming every week. We have lessons and tournament games and the kids look forward to every Mondays. Chief coach Joel D / Eugene H / Ken G , Ted N and myself are helping out every week in teaching these kids. We have groomed kids to be champions of Hamilton school board tournaments.

Last year, WCC held our first Waterdown Chess Challenge in April and we had a crowd of about 40 players. We had the first rolling trophy for Double Chess tournament. Eight winners' ( 4 sections ) names were inscribed on the trophy.

This year, together with Elevate My Chess Canada Inc, we are excited to announce that we are going to hold our 2nd annual tournament in this small rapid growing town ( highway 6 and highway 5 ).

We will have rapid tournament followed by blitz and then double chess tournament. All prizes are guaranteed by EMC and WCC. Places limited to 80 ONLY.

    Registration is open now :

Any questions ? Please email to info@elevatemychess.com or waterdownchess@yahoo.ca for more information

    All players welcome

The location of the venue is

      https://www.google.ca/maps/place/306...!4d-79.9005098

There is Tim Horton within walking distance. Fortinos nearby as well and also a McDonald.

We have 10 players registered at the moment. Registration coming along nicely and keep them coming. Places limited to 80 players. First come, first serve. All prizes guaranteed

Chess is certainly growing in Waterdown. Last year we have 40 players in our 1st annual event and this year we hope to double up the numbers and let our club members play against players from surrounding areas like Burlington, Hamilton, Mississauga, Oakville, Milton and Guelph.

Come and see Waterdown ....We welcome you....

Pre-registered list coming soon....hopefully by next week.

We have more than 20 players now. Good response so far with one and half month to go. 25% filled up at the moment. Some of the players coming all the way from Mississauga and I think we have OJCC U1300 champion on board. Thanks for your support.

Limited to only 80 places only.

We are extending the early bird entry fee to Mar 12, 2018.

Please take note that all cash $$$ prizes are guaranteed at more than $ 1,000 for a one day tournament. 3 tournaments in one day as well. Will be lots of fun.

I am pretty sure registration will be up to 40 by end of next week as most WCC players will be signing up by then.

Cheers for Chess in Waterdown and Canada.

Do come and support Waterdown Chess Club which is on our 3rd year now.

Chess in Waterdown is certainly growing with more kids playing chess competitively. In Burlington Chess Club last tournament, we have a teenager Braden Laughlin from WCC completed a perfect 5 out of 5 games white washing the BCC veterans and others to win the tournament. Braden is certainly a phenomenal and his rating is almost 1700 after the tournament. I am pretty sure he will move closer to 2000 in the near future. In the tournament before at BCC, another junior from WCC came in 2nd place with 4 out of 5 points in clear second. WCC players has been mushrooming at BCC for experience. A couple more players from BCC are likely to shine at BCC in the near future.

We hope players from outside of Waterdown will come and guide and same time challenge our up and coming players. Bonus is the prize money if you can win the section and if you can win the double chess tournament, your name will be engraved on the rolling trohpy

                Cheers
