Nigel Short to be sued by Kirsan Ilyumzhinov
February 22, 2018
There is an interesting article in chess-news.ru about Nigel and Kirsan.
http://www.chess-news.ru/node/24336
It says that various sources have published untrue or unverified information about Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.
The fide president intends to sue those involved in the spread of such information and the first victim in this fight will be Nigel Short.
The English grandmaster has been famous, not only for his play on the chessboard, but for a sharp tongue, caustic comments and bold criticism - sometimes on the verge of the foul.
When Short, following FIDE treasurer Adrian Siegel, mentioned that Ilyumzhinov was on the US sanctions list for dealing with a terrorist organization, Kirsan's patience was exhausted and he intends to take legal action.
Short deleted the ill-fated tweet, but, according to Ilyumzhinov, the damage to his reputation still suffered. The president proposed that the Englishman make a public apology, but he refused.
Tweets are listed in the article in which Short calls Ilyumzhinov "mentally unhealthy", "with delusions" and the like and other statements in which he defames the president.
The amount of compensation asked for is still unknown but there is a precedent where a colleague falsely accused of involvement in terrorism got 700,000 British pounds.
_________
Nigel should take this threat seriously. Kirsan always follows through on his statements.

Short urgently needs to resettle in the United States, where Kirsan Nikolaevich will not be able to get at him. Then he, crafty Odysseus-like, can write about Kirsan Nikolaevich, anything he wants and as much as necessary.
________
I am sure that Nigel Short is not in danger. Conversely, the humanoid will have to fork out for court costs to Short (if the trial takes place, which I highly doubt), and to pay damages.
Then, everything will come out into the open: the motives of the murder of journalist Larisa Yudina, study at MGIMO (well-known, who studied there and who was driven), friendship with all the villains - the living and the dead, the other's tricks ...
Nigel is, of course, sharp-tongued, but he is an honest and decent man, and trying to protect Western democracy from the members of Putin's camarilla. Especially now, when the whole clique is about to be under sanctions.
